A typical day begins with Japanese or English, with half the day devoted to each language. Study is in English and Japanese in reading, writing, math, science, social studies, PE, art and culture.
Children move throughout the day which helps keep them engaged in their learning.
Students gain a wonderful understanding of the Japanese culture from folding origami to making sticky rice balls (onigiri).
A highlight each year is the opportunity to be part of one or more class plays. The students learn their lines in both languages and perform for parents and relatives with confidence and pride. They also have the opportunity to learn Japanese traditional dances and perform them for the public during yearly events such as the Asian Celebration.
